This is such an important topic. Your experience with Theranos resonates with me. Our urgent need for tests, treatments, and vaccines is obvious. Some relaxation in the regulatory process is likely warranted. We can not allow tests and treatments to get to market without understanding the efficacy and the potential for unintended consequences. I recently wrote about Thalidomide and how a lack of research led to the worst pharmaceutical disaster in history.
I am fearful of the widespread use of antibody testing without a clear understanding of the specificity and sensitivity. We also lack clear guidance on the utility. This is a potentially dangerous combination.
